I need to know if my chicken is egg bound or not. I saw her this afternoon sitting in the nest box and thought she was just laying an egg, but went to check on chickens this evening (around 9 pm) when it was almost dark she's still sitting in the nesting box. I don't know if this means she's egg bound and if yes do I wait till morning to try to help her get it out or do I do it now? It's already dark outside. Is it safe to wait till tomorrow and not bother her today or is this something else?
Thanks for your replies!

Ok, I just checked on her again and she's still sitting there so I felt under neath her and looks like she has some eggs under her, but I don't know if one of them is hers since a lot of my other chickens prefer to lay in that exact box. There are a few eggs that I could feel but I didn't try to take them out because she didn't like it that I was touching them. Could she all of the sudden went broody? She never did before and she's about 3 years old. Oh, she's a Rhode Island Red.

Never mind. I think she went broody cause she was still sitting on eggs this morning, got out to eat and run around for a little bit and sat right back down on the eggs. I guess I'll need a couple of fertilized eggs now. :)
