Friends of mine use horse wormer, too - but be SURE you calculate the dosage correctly, and be sure it's safe for a puppy. You don't say how old the pup is, or how big. Also, if he's got a belly full of worms, his body weight could be a lot less than shows on the scale. I would confine him away from the other dogs and kids, clean up any body fluids and excrement, indoors or out, and get him to the vet ASAP for treatment. YOu should take a sample of poop with you so the vet can look under the microscope and see what kinds of worms he has. You need to get them all, and some kinds you can't see with the naked eye. You will need to worm all your pets, too, especially those who had contact with the puppy or his poop. And one type of worm gets into the ground and then you pretty much have it forever - which is why my friends who have a kennel full of show dogs use the horse wormer. It's cheaper, by a lot, and with so many dogs it's the only way to go. But a boarding dog brought the worms into the kennel yard and now they have to worm regularly where they never did before - for the first twenty five years, they wormed puppies and new dogs, then tested for worms yearly but never had any. Now they have to worm every few months. So be sure to get rid of the worms the pup poops out....people can get worms, too.
Sorry, your orig. post didnt' give details about breed/age, the last one did!!
