Tried letting my hens do the work but they were not very good at setting. Im not very good at saving the eggs. Bought a bator, remind me to cover the viewing window.... How long do eggs move around before pipping? They have been busy since last night but not actually started penetrating shell. Humidity and temp are great. Gonna let nature do what it will and not do anything til they start blowing up. But for curiosity, and sanity, whats the norm? Thanks

There is rarely a norm with chickens sadly, I know most people say to give it a good long 48 hours plus once pipping starts.

I agree, they can start rockin' and rollin' for a few days before they hatch(and peeping). They should start pipping on day 20 or 21(average) and once pipped it can take what seems like FOREVER(up to 24 hours).
Oh, just FYI-you're NOT a failed hatcher!
