I have 18 hens and the weather is 27 degrees and a mist is in the air and the ground is soaked should i keep them in the coop or let the run around in the run

If they have a good amount of dry space inside their coop they should be able to dry off after coming back inside. I'd say open the door and see if they want to go outside.

If you can throw straw or leaves or somesuch in any puddles, that will be helpful.

(No puddles where I am--we're under 2+ feet of snow!)

they were out earlier and did not seem to mind it at all but they were getting very wet and the roos tail feathers were drooping from being wet so if they want to go out in it they will be ok will they get sick and die these are my daughters chickens and if anything happens to them then we will have problems

I opened my coop door today and I only had one chicken brave enough to come out. We have a foot of snow on the ground. Although my ducks ran out in it and it looked pretty cool because the snow was where water would be if they were in their pond and it looked like they were swimming in snow as they were walking. Then one of my duck hens tried to take a dust bath in the snow

. But normally when it rains, my chickens do not have sense enough to come in out of it. And I have Polish to top it off so they have some funky hairdos when it rains.
