Hey there, longtime bird nerd here. I started out young with ducks, have spent several years trying out different chicken breeds, and am now anticipating going back to ducks again with a small flock of Welsh Harlequins and egg-producing hybrids.
Living in the rainy and wild Northwest, choosing between ducks and chickens is always an interesting balance between fence-jumping ability and mud slurry potential. LOL I've hesitated to get ducks for years because our yard literally runs like a creekbed in the winter, but we have a drain-off pond now that I'm hoping they'll orient to for their dabbling needs. With any luck, the biggest challenge will be getting my chicken-oriented farmcollies used to thinking about ducks as their puppies, too.
Anyway, good to "meet" everyone; I've enjoyed nosing around the forums thus far and figured I'd better introduce myself.
Merry
