For sure! 10 years later I still can't shine a flashlight in the woods without getting freaked out. I haven't seen the Exorcist in 35 years so it's probably really stupid now but it terrified me college.

I wouldn't think of rear window as a scary movie... More of a mystery movie.

The original is scary. Dial M for Murder. I love suspense movies, they scare me WAY more than horror flicks.

I cannot believe no one has mentioned "Carrie." I must be the oldest person posting in this thread. And it's the ENDING(s) that scared the bejeebus out of me.

First Stephen King tale, a great Brian DePalma horror movie, first movie role for John Travolta. OhMyGoodness, Piper Laurie was SO .... believably creepy and terrifying in that movie! Sissy Spacek's/Carrie's transformation was mesmerizing. Amy Irving got what she deserved: emotionally destroyed. Mwaaaahaaaaaaa!

I've only seen the 1954 Alfred Hitchcock version. Watched it in class in middle school. Was there another?

No that's the one. It scared me half to death. But I prefer suspense to horror, so that is probably why. I mean come on. Hitchcock??? All his movies were scary!!!!

Okay, this is sort of a kid's flick so I must have taken a kid to it many years ago but it's "The Watcher in the Woods" . Bette Davis, of all people and it's not so much gross and scary as it is suspenseful and then they startle the bejeebers out of you! Way fun to watch though.
