I started with 23 assorted chicks. The owner of the farm that I live on came by the other day with 20 more! Now that I am up to 43 chicks, plus six ducklings, I have to rethink housing.
So here is what I have in mind.
Several trees (locust ranging from three to six inches in diameter) need to be removed to make room for a coop. I am going to use these trees to make the frame of an A frame coop. Hoping to have enough trees of the same length and roughly the same diameter to make it a 10X10 coop, plenty of room for the 43 birds (oh, and the six ducks). I have three small coops (largest being 4.5X5.5 and six feet tall) this should be more than enough space since my birds are going to be free range as much as possible, they do have 100 acres to roam on.
If anybody has any suggestions, please share. I am always looking for better ideas.
