and hens in breeding state are VERY noisy also. I agree with the poults, but I have a Midget White poult right now, oh, about three months old or so, starting to make the same noise as a breeding hen. kyuck kyuck kyuck... just saying... Four turkeys in my back yard are noisier than a hundred young chickens growing out, not yet laying, or crowing. I'm zoned for the turkeys, but not the chickens. (Zoning ordinance says "Four non-crowing poultry) Plus I keep lovebirds which I am allowed, and they are noisy as all get out. Who cares about a couple baby chicks peeping every now and then. Hear that? That's my tom gobbling for no reason at 6:17 am. Oh, and they also gobble if someone's car alarm goes off, they hear a siren in the distance, or someone slams a door, or the neigbhor turns on a light at night to use the restroom in the middle of the night. Just saying... might want to go with butterball until you are zoned for them.
