"Quietest" roo??

Well...I've noticed that males without a head make the quietest birds.

Anyway...I know which breed for you to NOT get. Any type of Longcrower. My bantam D'Uccle crowed ALL day. My Langshan cockerel hasn't crowed once...and he's 6 months old...

If you want a bird that doesn't crow much, get a heavier breed.

If you want a bird whose crow is quieter, get a serama.

quietest other than a culled one,lol is a caponed one. u remove the man parts he has no reason to crow.

other than that a serama my boys crow 1/3 the loudness of any of the other breeds i have ever bred or raised.

A Serama roo isn't a guarantee. None of mine have ever been quiet, just higher pitched and shrilly.

Their crow is a little quieter because they're smaller, it's probably better than my sumatra's crows.

I had australorp/EE cross roosters. They were BIG boys, and boy they crowed a LOT. All day and all night. They were large breed, but not quiet.

My silver-spangled hamburg rooster so far is fairly quiet, but that could be because the polish rooster is more dominant of the two.

I've got a brooder full of month-old BR cockerels, and they're not crowing yet, but boy do they peep loud all day long. I bet they're not going to be quiet adults!

They may be a fraction quieter because of their size, but not what I would call "quiet". My littlest guy can still make my ears hurt closed up in the shed with him. I'd hate to be closed up in the shed with my Jersey when he belted one out!!!
