Patches, I do love it and my DD does too. No, I want to frame it for my sewing room. I think it is just meant for that. I can't imagine how tiny your applique stitches are and so evenly spaced.
I know, everyone on here is great and a lot of help. This is my first forum with sewing swaps and I am having a great time. I'm sure you will too.

Clucky-It makes me happy that you and your DD like the block well enough to hang it up. That is so sweet.

The reason I asked about the background fabric is that in the swap guide lines it says not to use fabric that was too thin, so I used a heavier-than-I-normally-would-use muslin for the background....and since I am a fretter (hmmm, is that even a word?) by nature, I just had to worry about if it was TOO heavy. lol

This is the picture on the cover of an old quilting book that I tried to copy when I made it:

I forgot the tail feathers! I just noticed them when I got the book off of the shelf to take the picture.

I am sure that you are happy that I opted NOT to add the coffee rings that are on the cover of the book to the block when I made it.

All of the blocks that have been posted are so beautiful! This is so much fun.

Patches, I didn't mean to drop our conversation, but we are running around trying to get ready for another one of those horrid, no electric power, ice and snow storms. I'm ready for winter to be overrrrrrrrr!!

I was about to set eggs for a test hatch, but decided to wait until I know we have electric. Just got the hens up and running to the nest boxes with lots of nice big eggs too. Yesterday one of my Blue Australorp hens laid a 3.5 oz. egg!

The largest one has been 3.6 oz.
On the quilt fabric, I just use the better quality 100% quilting cottons and they work fine.
Have to get to the feed store, so wish us luck in NE OKLA for the ice storm.
Thanks for the patterns too.

I've been lurking and

over the beautiful blocks this month. The colors are lovely.

CluckyChikn I feel your Oklahoma pain....Oklahoma is being hard hit already. Getting my last few minutes in on the computer before our power goes out.

Zoo, hope the surgery went well and you are doing okay.

My prayers are with you folks in OK! And for a swift and complete healing for you too, Zoo!

Welman-still anxiously awaiting my block...I'll post a picture so everyone can see it when it arrives.

NanaKat and Cluckychikn, I'd have been an Oklahoman too, if my father's family hadn't up and made tracks for California back in the late 30's!

It's snowing a great big blizzard on top of a half inch of ice right now. I hope everyone who is affected is OK and can get some kind of power...even a generator and can stay warm and well. We've been without electric for up to 12 days in past storms. No fun and dangerous. This one stretches from New Mexico all the way to North Carolina!!! I had to use a hammer to break ice to get one coop door open this morning.

Yes, Zoo, hope you're doing well, do take care of yourself.

Everyone be careful and don't slip on the ice!!!

On our news tonight it said some of our people that work with the ele. are heading down to OK to help out. I hope they get there fast for you all.

Yes Gin,
Hardest hit area in Oklahoma is the southwestern corner....still 140,000 without power.
News is reporting many electric crews coming in to help reestablish the power to those areas affected....sure nice to have great neighbors. Ice is the kicker.
Our cows are wearing ice jackets with icicles on their ears and tails. ...warmer temperatures are coming tomorrow.

Hope everyone else is nice and warm.
