Quilt Block Swap for January 2010

17Roses..I am agreeing with verthandi..I have been quilting 30 yrs. and I still have problems sometimes..I have found that you have to be careful on patterns that you print on a copier..when I first joined the swaps, I had one month that I took the block apart several times..I finally took my pattern and measured it..I had printed it with my copier..measured fine..took that pattern to the copy shop and had several others made..it was off by 1/32nd..multiplied by the pieces and it made it 1/4th off. If the pattern says SCANT 1/4th it means it!!!

The Flying Geese is tricky!!..Best done by paper piecing...Don't give up..we have all been there!!

I can agree to that with my "star" that I started. Everything looked great laying on the table but when I got to sewing them all together it was all wrong!!! I had cut out the pieces just a tad to small on one side and that made a world of difference. What did I do? I went out and got new fabric and I am waiting for a buddy of mine

to teach me to do the "Star" since she has done one before.

Cluckychikn-I just reread your note when I went to get your physical address and realized I made your block in shades of the colors you said you weren't fond of! This is what it looks like:

I want to send this out today-if you want something else I do have some other blocks I have been working on.

I don't like a lot of those colors, but that is really cute and will fit into a quilt just great. Thanks so much. Don't worry about making another, that one is sooo cute.

Great! It will be on its way today!

Thank you all so much for the support. I can see that many of you have faced the same thing. I am going to put the parts in a bag and set it aside for now. I am not willing to drive myself nuts for a block that could be a disaster. I know part of my problem is consistancy in both the cutting and sewing. I will post a pic when I get the "real" block done. Thanks again for letting me air my frustrations.
