I am thinking it might be a individual personality thing on bahavior more so than by breed because i think my noisiest bird is one of my buff orpingtons and my other BO is quiet as a mouse

My Wyandotte (just figured out her breed with the help of you guys) Gertie is my loudest. She is very talkative and will let out a low long squawk whenever I am around or she sees something she doesn't like. I had 3 Buff Orpingtons because I love the breed and they are quite, but the raccoon go them.

However, I have Delawares in the incubator as we speak ready to come out and I hear they are a calm breed as well. We'll see.........

I agree that it must be an individual bird thing. We have 3 white leghorns and 2 of them are quiet and very friendly, the third is loud and flighty. They are really good egg layers and very good birds. If that was your original choice I say stay with it!!

My ameraucanas are quiet also. It my 3 sexlinks that are extremely loud. To the point I feel bad for the neighbors. When I got chickens last year for the first time, I thought they would be quiet. I got a rooster by accident at the farm supply. I gave him away. I think my sexlinks are almost as noisy.

yea i dont have much land. so i have neighbors all aound my house. so if i get chicken, i dont want give them up. so i want quite one. from most of replies, ameraucanas is the right one. thanks to everyone replies
