Quotes and Thoughts for the Day

I have always said that I think the luckiest people are the ones who go to sleep and wake up dead. LoL
That depends on where you wake up at mrbigschickens.

I responded to an ad once. I offered to sell them for $5 a dozen, but said I was willing to negotiate (dirt cheap already in my opinion) if she could tell me what would happen after the chicks hatched. I never got a straight answer and she wanted 8 dozen. I wouldn't do it and it made me not want to do it in the future. I have to know the outcome after the hatch. Even if she was honest and said she had someone lined up to butcher already.
Thanks for the response. The teacher I am conversing with stated the chicks go to a farm,I have asked for clarification. I personally feel what they are asking for is minimal, two dozen eggs. The have five teachers with bators, I have asked other questions like if they take the bators home at night and weekends. My understanding is alot schools don't heat their buildings on weekends and evenings. I have offered to provide the kindergarten classes with a Q & A of me all about chickens and eggs. In the past they have ordered eggs from someone in MS and paid $15 a dozen, which to me seems a bit steep for educational purposes. Who knows, we might just donate them, still have to decide.
Realize that, depending on what class, some of the eggs are opened and studied at various times during incubation. 8 dozen eggs sounds like a dissection lab setting. The ones that hatch -- if allowed to -- hopefully go off to somebody's home...but that is a difficult call if it's a city setting for the school. They might end up in the science lab's snake's belly. Frankly, though, once the eggs leave your hands you really have no say as to whether a person wants to hatch them or scramble them. Not every fertile egg makes it out alive. If you feel a responsibility to the egg's future, then don't sell to an educational setting.
Thanks for the insight as well. I personally feel like this is a great opportunity to provide some education about chickens and eggs. As well as helping them understand where their food comes from.
Nice love the first one.
One positive thing... Tomorrow is a new day... Oh and at least you didn't wake up dead... He he
