I got caught about a mile from home a few weeks ago by a thunderstorm. With a child that is terrified of thunder… Our second ever thunderstorm since we came here and we had to time it that badly LOL Fun times.

Thunder is scary when your a kid! I was always terrified Did get better as I aged. The last really bad thunder storm we had was last summer, at night. Was in the house on my own as Charlie and his Dad were out foxing and I was very close to ringing them to come home!! Really was the worst I had ever heard and the lightening was really lighting the bedroom up (I was hiding under the quilt). The cat would not come in, I was worried about the chickens, one of the dogs was pooping his pants and Charlie and his Dad were out in it, was just awful. Been a long time since I was scared like that with thunder.

Where I grew up, in South Africa, in the former Transvaal province, we used to get thunderstorms so bad. Electric storms too. So I got used to them eventually. Of course both times we flew into Johannesburg we hit storms. The first one was funny. DS being so scared, when we're on land… different when you're flying through one! Turbulence so bad, I was terrified we're going to crash. That plane was all over the place. We finally got down safe onto the runway, taxied, stopped. You could hear a pin drop on that plane. Nobody moved, nobody said a word… Except DS "That was FUN!!!" I was like

I looked up and caught another passenger's eye and he burst out laughing and the next moment, the whole cabin was hysterical, everyone laughing. The poor air hostess walked around looking at us like "have you people lost your minds?" I will never, ever forget that, it was awesome.

If I could ask you all to pray for my family, I would appreciate it as we are in desperate need of healing and comfort. We just received word that my uncle is in the hospital with failing kidneys, poisoned blood and a pancreas problem. It's very unlikely he will survive. I honestly am in shock and can't seem to stop crying. PLEASE pray for some kind of miracle, please. I don't think I can handle another loss.
