Quotes and Thoughts for the Day

This Kyle update from my DD came early this morning:

Hello everyone.
I just wanted to write a quick update so I didn't forget to write later this week. Kyle had a MUCH better experience this week with his blood draw. Even though it was the same two individuals, he was calm. I was mostly calm. He still had the little pink spot where he was poked last week, so I made sure to point it out so they could use the right spot. They got it done in the first try. After they said he was done, Kyle chimes in, "Oh. That not bad. Only one arm today not two!" I almost burst out laughing. The technicians both looked a little ashamed but the one said "You are right. We got it right this time. You did awesome." Then Kyle went on chatting about something else. He's such a trooper!
We got his blood count numbers back today and everything was within limits. His ANC is down, but that is to be expected. Two weeks after chemo it does seem to "bottom out" and then it starts to climb again. The ANC is driven a lot by the white blood cell count (think immune system), so his white cell count is low, but again, this is expected.
So far, Kyle has not been complaining about any kind of leg pain or tingling. We have not asked too much, because we don't want to make a big deal about it. I have been watching for signs, but as long as he exercises, he seems to not slow down... at all. In fact, this morning, he was riding his bike and he jumped off his bike while he was riding. This is not a joke. He really did that. And when I asked him why he would jump off his bike, he told me, "Mama, my bike keep going without me" with a huge smile on his face. I told him that he needs to stay on his bike and his new rule is: No jumping off the bike unless it is falling over. He looked at me really confused like why was I not impressed with his trick. This kid has not slowed down at all despite my attempts to keep him a little more safe.
I wanted to send some pictures from our touch-a-truck time this weekend. Since the Make-A-Wish wish granters told us about the event and talked to the organizers, we agreed to wear our Make-a-Wish shirts. However in hindsight, it was kind of awkward, so we will recommend they don't do that in the future. I think people thought it was part of Kyle's wish and it confused people. It was fine, though. It didn't effect our time. The coordinators of the event gave us all free shirts and gave Kyle a truck backpack with some toys in it. It was really sweet! The event was fantastic and the weather was a little drizzly at first but it turned out great. The kids were able to eat food from a food truck (which apparently was a big deal). Overall, it was a great time for all of us.
We hope everyone has a great week!

Glad he is doing much better!
