Quotes and Thoughts for the Day

I know this is a 'quotes and thoughts' thread but I'd like to share my favourite song from a New Zealand band called The Feelers. It's just got such a good message - the hope that someday the whole world can just get along.

"It's a beautiful world just trying to get along"

Quote: Yes! I brought the gingerbread train kit down to their house. It has become a tradition to decorate some sort of gingerbread item each Christmas. I did the engine, Kyle did the caboose and his sister, Katie, did the middle car. We all have a good time doing them. My daughter (Kyle's mom) and son did a house kit that she got for them.

That's a wonderful family tradition! And it's fun to have a gingerbread house (or train!) around the house during the holidays as part of the decorations.

Daughter Tam has the same gingerbread tradition, with a twist. Every year she and Evan (her son) and our other granddaughter Katie make gingerbread houses and trains, and then take them up to the Care Center where Tam works as an overnight CNA. The residents love it and look forward to their creations, the kids learn the value of sharing their time, and Tam gets to work with the elderly people she loves so much seeing the lighter mood that some of the houses and such bring to them. Win all the way around. They also do the same thing at Halloween, bringing in decorated Jack-o-Lanterns. Me? My tradition has suddenly become making GB houses on BYC....dunno how that happened, but it did!
