All my friends and family know that a "vacation" on the farm is a working vacation. They jokingly call it boot camp. I unashamedly assign tasks to everyone for the week, and if we finish early we can go play in Seattle. Otherwise, well, you got to drive a tractor. I am stunned at how out of shape teenagers and 20-somethings are nowadays!! It's really sad when I, in my mid-50s, can outwork someone who should be in their physical prime of life. I may be overweight, but there's muscles under that fat. My poor 22 year old niece can squeeze into size 4 jeans, but that's about all she has the strength to do. When I was her age I had the same amount of body fat and wore a size 10 jeans, and we have almost the exact same bone structure. The difference of 6 sizes was muscle. Poor thing, by the time she's my age she won't be able to pick up the remote control, she'll be so weak.
