Dare I admit that I really like that movie? YES!

A 5 foot diamondback rattle snake I killed in the woods where I'm logging at

Scary!

I almost hate looking at my subscription page after missing any time on here as I know I have a lot of reading to do. That being said, I love reading everything that people post, I don't skim on this thread. Must be all the good peeps in here that give the thread such a good vibe and it is contagious.

Speaking of contagious, I have caught the hatching bug and pulled out my bator today and plugged it in.

Chickens of course....just about 42 eggs from our mixed flock. Have no idea who lays what egg with 23 hens so it will all be a surprise as to what hatches. Should be super exciting and will be my first rodeo. Been reading up. Now that we are getting 20 eggs a day, I figured it was time. Plus being out the cold of winter.

Good luck with your hatch :fl Surprise hatches are great, I have a couple of eggs in my incubator now that will be a surprise. An Amber link x frizzle polish. Just can't wait to see what they will hatch like. I have all sorts of bizarre visions in my mind of their looks!
It's so addicting I'm on my third hatch of the year, I think I need help with this addiction

Thanks, so I have a hatching question. I have read not to hatch from birds younger than 18 months in theory. Have you done it with younger birds? Ours are almost 1 year. Just curious

Yes the polish eggs that I'm hatching are from my own birds that I hatched last year from bought in eggs. My adult birds are 10 months and 9 month old. They all started laying at 6 months. I didn't start incubating them though untill they had been laying about a month. This way the hens had got their laying machines in some kind of order. I always incubate good shaped well formed and clean eggs.

Excellent outta ovations.... :(

Smaller egg smaller chick. I hatched a few from hens under a year they are fine. The eggs where a normal size, not pullet eggs... Others have done it too. Maybe not somthing to do all the time, but it went well for me.

Great thanks for the info, ours seemed to all be laying before winter. They started at 6-8 months. We do have some smaller girls that lay smaller eggs. Since we culled our second in command roo our fertility rate has dropped, it was almost 90%, now I would guess it is about 60%.

Excellent

Great thanks, I can hardly stand it! So eggicited!

Have either of you done the dry hatching method?
