It's funny, I've been having great difficulty with patience today and this is the second time today I've seen this quote. And I've never seen it before...

I set 41 eggs, 5 were clear or damaged in some way, 23 hatched, 2 died (complications during hatching) and 13 didn't hatch. Not a great hatch rate, but I'm glad that I have 21 healthy chicks. The brown ones are Easter Eggers, and the light colored ones are EE X RI reds, EE X BLRW, and EE X Wheaten marans. I love their big fluffy beards! Thanks for sharing and that just made me nervous, there is no way we could incoprate 21 chicks into our flock, assuming around 50% hatch. I was thinking of setting 41 eggs and see what happens. We can assimilate around 5 into our flock. The rest will be going to one of the charities we donate eggs too. I am working on getting a program up and running, where we work with military families that are interested in chickens and raising their own backyard flock. Our eggs have been a big hit with the military group and many of the soldiers we are donating too are having medical issues and are usually in crisis. I know how much I benefit from animal therapy and feel like others could really benefit from raising their own chickens. It's a pipe dream, maybe call it Chicks for Vets or Tricia's Chicks for Vets, or our name NoBo Chickens for Vets. Who knows, I am way ahead of myself at this point.

Glad you appreciate Bruce's wisdom, COChix. My real name's Tracy. Doesn't matter to me either way how I'm addressed. Been online since most people communicated one computer to one and your handle was sacred. It's actually difficult for me to equate people to anything but the screen name due to that longevity but I'm trying!

Ooh another Tracy! It's even spelled the same. This never happens. I'm always the only one.

I agree about screen names, they are easier, but I love the connection to a real name.
