@NorthFLChick I just spoke to him now. I told him he was a hero yesterday and he looked all shy and said "I don't take nonsense!"
Fire update: We went down to the river to see how bad the damage is (BAD) and ended up walking along to the 3rd farm down from us where we bumped into the farmer. He told us things got pretty interesting on his farm yesterday. His cows were down at the river when the fire broke out, but THANKFULLY a mutual friend of ours that lives a bit further down the road, spotted the fire and went to see where he can help. He found the farmer we spoke to wasn't home, so he ran down to the river and moved his cows up to the house and out of harm's way. He then found the wind blew some burning timbers up, towards the house and farmyard, which set fire to the hay bales stacked near the house, and also the bedding in the sheep's pen. He put both fires out before it got too bad. (The sheep are o.k.) Thanks to his quick thinking and actions no serious damage was done to the house and farm buildings and 2 cows, 6 geese, 2 ducks, 20 sheep and more than 100 chickens were unharmed. Thank goodness for caring friends and neighbours that look out for others? I think we can call him a hero.![]()
