Quotes and Thoughts for the Day

Thanks for sharing and that just made me nervous, there is no way we could incoprate 21 chicks into our flock, assuming around 50% hatch. I was thinking of setting 41 eggs and see what happens. We can assimilate around 5 into our flock. The rest will be going to one of the charities we donate eggs too. I am working on getting a program up and running, where we work with military families that are interested in chickens and raising their own backyard flock. Our eggs have been a big hit with the military group and many of the soldiers we are donating too are having medical issues and are usually in crisis. I know how much I benefit from animal therapy and feel like others could really benefit from raising their own chickens. It's a pipe dream, maybe call it Chicks for Vets or Tricia's Chicks for Vets, or our name NoBo Chickens for Vets. Who knows, I am way ahead of myself at this point.
This is a wonderful idea!

Morning everyone! Our power was off yesterday evening, scheduled, so I had an early night and caught up on some sleep. It rained again during the day and we had thunderstorms on and off last night as well. After Monday's downpour the garden is looking better than it did in months, so I can imagine after the last 24 hours, it must be singing

Things are bit crazy here, with the buyers anxious to move in, to the point where they offered to rent us a place to move to, so they can get in here and get going. We still need our tenants moved though, but I think they'll be keen after I tore into them yesterday morning. Their visiting grandkids killed 2 of my chickens (don't ask?). I not-very-politely pointed out the gate at the bottom of the driveway and told them where they can go if I catch them as much as looking at one of my birds again.

We decided to make things easier on the move and MIL's subsequent move to a care home, to downsize on all our possessions and got an antique/art dealer in to value her pictures and furniture and knick knacks. It was great fun following him around and watching him examine everything. He absolutely loved that every time he took a picture of the wall for closer examination he dislodged an amazing amount of cobwebs and dust

(Wait until I get my hands on the woman that was supposed to clean MIL's flat (and paid very well for it)) The dealer said it gives the pictures "character". I must have a flat full of "character" then

Our front door faces a dirt road, so keeping on top of the dust here is impossible.

Good morning Sumi :frow Wow it sounds like everything is moving very fast for you now. I won't ask about the chickens but I can imagine your choice words to them :rant I would be the same if something like that happened to any of my chickens especially by some one else.

Ah cleaners never quite do the same job as you would yourself. Talking about dust and cobwebs my house would be the same, I don't have a cleaner though all my own fault. I have to admit that house work is not on the top of my list of priorities. By the time I've done all my animals which live like kings and queens, some office work to be able to afford all these animals the house work has sort of fallen of list all together!!! Very rainy here today so maybe I will tackle some of the jobs I have been putting off

Have a lovely day and I hope you don't catch anyone looking at your chickens!!!

Yeah, let's just say my language went from the scared to the profane, but I got the message across… They've been a bit of a handful since they moved in a few months ago and we had to raise our voices a time or two, but the chickens crossed the line for me. That was unnecessary.

We normally don't get cleaners in, but MIL's flat was so filthy I said no way I'm digging in there, I'd rather pay someone. Cleaners here charge minimum rates, but still? If you pay someone to do something you would expect them to make a bit of an effort?

Same to you and yours! I really need to get going. Our farm buyers apparently wants to buy quite a bit of our furniture and they are coming in a bit to talk to us about the prices the dealer put on some of the items. The agent phoned to pre-warn me last night.
