Quotes and Thoughts for the Day

"Imagine this
Joy and laughter and no more pain
Where love insists to be known
Imagine all the people
Caring for each other
Instead of all the fussing and arguing
I’m a dreamer, a believer
That there’s hope within our reach
I’m going to take a stand and agree
The healing begins with me
Imagine this
Safety and shelter from the storm
A place for all to call home

Imagine all the people
Learning that which matters most
Can’t be bought or earned or taken
I’m a dreamer, a believer
That there’s hope within our reach
I’m going to take a stand and agree
The healing begins with me
There’s a better way
we don’t have to die anymore
Open up your eyes and see the need
We can make a difference with our own lives
If we let love arise from the inside
Heed the call and be all we were made to be"
-Beckah Shae

...Just a little thought here. Imagine this, there's a 7.8 earthquake in Nepal (it happened a few days ago). Over 3,000 people died, and many have been left hurt, hopeless, and/or homeless. I believe some charities are even accepting donations to help the Nepali people. You could be the difference.

After all the bad weather we have been having here in Texas I just wanted to share this picture. Between the cross we put out on the highway to let people know it is a safe place to stop and the beautiful rainbow maybe it will be getting better for us now.

Lovely!!

I like the cross y'all put up!!
We put it up as sort of an all are welcome cross. We are located many miles from anything in any direction and once had a lady break down on the highway right at our back gate. We helped her but could tell that she was very nervous about strangers. So, we thought, what could we do to just let people know this was a safe place...thus the cross. We have since had a number of people, mainly women traveling alone, stop for directions or just needing some little sort of help and comment that they saw the cross and figured it would be safe to stop. So, I guess it is working as intended. We keep extra gasoline and oil on hand, call help for them if needed, that sort of thing. We figured it needed to be big enough to not be a road side accidental death memorial so we went for a 7 foot cross on top of one of our fence post. So, if you are ever driving on US84 in West Central Texas and need help, just look for the cross.

What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal. Albert Pike

“The single greatest lesson the garden teaches is that our relationship to the planet need not be zero-sum, and that as long as the sun still shines and people still can plan and plant, think and do, we can, if we bother to try, find ways to provide for ourselves without diminishing the world. ” Michael Pollan

Practice kindness all day to everybody and you will realize you’re already in heaven now.

No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted. Aesop

“A book lying idle on a shelf is wasted ammunition. Like money, books must be kept in constant circulation... A book is not only a friend, it makes friends for you. When you have possessed a book with mind and spirit, you are enriched. But when you pass it on you are enriched threefold.” Henry Miller

The best portion of a good man’s life: His little, nameless unremembered acts of kindness and love.
William Wordsworth

Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible. Dalai Lama

Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.

You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

"If instead of a gem, or even a flower, we should cast the gift of a loving thought into the heart of a friend, that would be giving as the angels give." George MacDonald

“We should give as we would receive: cheerfully, quickly, and without hesitation; for there is no grace in a benefit that sticks to the fingers.” Seneca
