Some pics from today. Apart from the soothing scenery, please note, this road is maybe 16 feet wide? And the speed limit is a dare and it's all corners? I didn't have an accident yet, but I think my nerves did once or twice when we met a bus coming our way… eish. It's no wonder the Irish drink so much and the pub's the first thing you see when you drive into many towns
Approaching Killarney, there is a lake to the right here
From the same spot, facing the opposite direction. Much of the roads here are this scenic
If you MUST… you can go for a drive on the beach at Inch (not very eco-friendly, but…
)
Oh, Google earth/navigator/know-it-all-(not), confidently directed us within 300 yards of the place we were heading to, before sending us halfway around the Dingle peninsula, at which point I turned the phone off and pulled out my map book, but it was worth the detour when we found this:
Hey everyone, DH got to pick where we went today and he chose the Ring of Beara (Beara Peninsula, West Cork) At the moment, with it being summer, this island is one big flower garden. All along the roads, there are foxgloves and other flowers growing in abundance. So pretty! I didn't get pics of all the different "roadside" flowers, but I did take some for you all today. I must go find some wild roses, oh my heck, those things are AMAZING. Their smell! I picked one and left in my car with the windows up, to scent my car, it was that good.
I got loads of pics, so I'm going to divide them in posts and upload them small, click to enlarge
My car is not very wide and that's for traffic going both directions… There are pull-over places every now and then where cars can pull into to let others pass though, or you won't get far at all LOL Some of these roads are honestly a wide car's width, that's it!
