My Richard, born in 1981 with Spina Bifida. A pioneer in the 80's with this birth defect.



We stopped counting the amount of surgeries he had once we got into the mid 30's.

Started walking with a walker, then on to arm crutches, then a wheelchair as he got older.

He knew how to have fun..at the zoo.

Loves the Holidays. :) In the 80's still.

Little stink! Squirting his cousin in the face! He thought it was funny.


Today, he does a lot with youtube folks. Love Lindsey Sterling, and helps with her youtube ads.

Thank you, that was a serious surgery. He had two tubes going from the kidney to the the bladder, some healthy folks have this too..no problem usually, but a child with this birth defect has bladder and kidney problems often. He had the tubes put in the normal position, because they were slanted. Little did we know, that from the scar made from this surgery, in the future, would cause horrible problems. Still fighting infections from that scar opening. :/

I love those pics! I'm sure all those surgerys were hard to go through, for him and you. But, I'm glad he's doing so well today. :)
