I used to rescue and foster dogs. I miss it. Such a wonderful experience to see their personalities change after they had stayed for a while. Some came pretty scared. I know that look. Then came the time when they could finally trust a human hand without cringing. And that sweet trusting look in their eyes came about, instead of the fear. Some had been left alone, some fenced up, some chained up without any thing more than a pat on the head when the food dish was brought out.
I remember one dog that I just loved..one of my last ones to foster. He was a wired haired pointer. Black with a bit of white on his chest. I called him Jack. Jack would go over to my chicken coop, and point my chickens. I didn't use to let them out. But now I let them out to free range. Anyway, the rescue that I had gotten him from, found someone in a different state that wanted a good hunting dog. When I posted the photo of him pointing at the chickens, that did it for them. Over comes the lady for me to signs the papers. I had Jack in the house with us. He sat there, looked at her, looked at me, then all of a sudden, he comes over, and puts his head on my lap, keeps it there, and just stares back at the lady with the most sad look in his eyes. See, he had been through this process before. He knew what was coming. He wanted to stay. Oh man, that broke my heart. I would have kept him, but have my Golden at the time. And, a smaller dog. You should have seen that lady lean forward and start writing as fast as she could, after she looked at him and me, when I said...awww..look, he knows what's coming..aww...Jack! I think she was pretty worried I was going to say, I want him. He was a great dog. I know he ended up happy with a family, and hopefully being able to do what he enjoyed .. pointing!

Here is a picture of Jack. :) You can't see it too well with him facing forward,
but he had the cutest beard..wire hair. I would suggest this breed of dog to a family for sure. Less shedding!
Just always know, if you have a big dog, they can bump into a small child and knock them
down accidentally. But if you have older children, love love this breed. This was part of the fun
of fostering and rescuing..learning the different personalities in the breeds.

Aww, how sweet! :love I foster dogs, the transformation is unbelivable.... I would never do anything else... My own dog is 100% purebred American Mutt.. :gig I think adopted dogs act so much more grateful, you know? It is like they know you saved them. :) -Banti

Lucky. I wish I could still do this. Age related along with some health problems..can't do it anymore. :/ Mutts are great. I have a Golden R. that wouldn't sell because she has white on her. We don't mind. :) And then, came across someone selling a Dachshund. Oh man..that poor guy, 4 months old, had that scared to death look. His nails were soooo looong. We took him home thinking our daughter would want him. They were on a fishing trip, was going to surprise her with this little dog..but......we fell in love with him right away. His coloring is different too..Pie Bald. Brown and white.

Are you fostering right now? If so...Photo?? Would love to see. Or, if you do anytime soon, share some photos..K?

Awe that's beautiful x I love people who rescue/foster ect. It shows that there are still people who care for animals. I have a big dog of my own. Hes a five yr old German Shepherd. Love him so much. I also used to raise and rescue wildlife and it was a tragic but beautiful experience. My profile pic is a pic of a joey wallaby I raised xxx My dream is to one day have my own animal rescue centre
