Last year, June 22, 2016, a F2 tornado touched down about 4 miles from our house. We were watching the storm and what I was focused on was a hummingbird that was perched on a limb of my contorted filbert bush that is about 12 feet from a window. I'd never seen a hummingbird in one place for so long. They usually visit our feeder quickly and are off again. This determined bird was clutching that limb, as it whipped back and forth. It weathered those high winds hanging on tight. It surely would have been injured or maybe killed had it let go. I like to think one of the birds that is visiting our feeder this summer is that same bird.
