I've found the people that I have discussed and disagreed with can be the most trusted when we get past it all so that IMHO that quote is absolutely right.

Looking back, most people I remain close too, I had a problem with when we first met.

It applies to a lot of scars but one in particular.
I worked in the recovery room. There was one team of doctors who would preform a mastectomy and step aside for his partner to start reconstruction that day. It was an honor to be there when they woke up and be able to tell them "It looks great!"
