R.I.P Cheif

the main perpose is to intimidate predators since we dont get many out here but i think a hawk might avoid our land if you have a big boy standing there
That's a great purpose. That's the main reason I keep them around as well. In fact I never see any birds of prey around here but since he started getting sick and weak I'm seeing them every day! I think the rooster definitely has a presence they don't like😉

Oh really! That's amazing! I'm excited for you:clap
yes i just need a really big rooster bc we have a wyandotte rooster but hes kind of a baby and is scared of things it took him 2 months start foraging after the hens began foraging

Grace, I had to put down my Rojo Sunday night too. He was a good one but he'd started going after my 3-month old littles. I'm wanting an Am cockerel to take over the flock. He was 4 or 5 years old and had chronic bumblefoot. I'm a little sad, but ... it was time.

Aww, poor baby🥹. I doubt the Brahma will treat you like that, they're good birds!

Aww, I'm so sorry😢! Man putting down roosters I feel like it so hard. Maybe it's because they're harder to replace or you have them longer. Poor boy, sounds like he lived a long life though❤️. I hope your new rooster is exactly what you want and has a good and healthy life:love

this is the list of what we are getting in february

2 blue cochins
2 salmon favorelles
1 buff brahma
1 black giant
1 french black copper maran
2 blue laced red wyandottes
1 collumbian wyandottes
1 white wyandotte
1 ameraucana
1 naked neck
1 whiting true green

i dont really care if we end up with roosters
but it would be a shame if the french black copper maran (dark brown eggs)
both salmon favorolle (pink eggs)

ameraucana(blue eggs)

or whiting true green (green) ended up being a rooster bc it would be nice to get some colorfull eggs
