My 10 month olf EE roo was a little down yesterday then this morning I saw he was goose stepping. I had a bad feeling but left him alone since he seemed to be iin good spirits and it was a nice day for a change. By the time we got home int he late afternoon he could barely walk and was in the obvious first stages of mareks. With our extensive flocks we can't risk Mareks spreading so he was euthanised. We can only wait and see who else gets hit.

I'm sorry...

the vaccine is only sold in large dosage vials and he was one of just two survivors of a bad hatch. It is also only effective given to chicks within 48 hours of hatching. the only way to vaccinate is to have it on hand and be prepared to vaccinate every hatch. sadly we didn't get the vaccine we ordered so he was not vaccinated.
