So I haven't posted in a while. Well, my lovely sweet Roo passed away this past week. My mother is the one that found him. She said he it was like he fell asleep at the base of the roost. I am sick to my stomach and about to be in tears just posting about it. I knew he wasn't supposed to live long, he was a Broiler/Cornish Rock Cross and he was the runt. But I miss him dearly. I miss his morning call. I miss the way he used to follow me for food and treats. I miss the way he would let baby chicks and poults eat around his feet. The other chickens would pick on the babies.

He has 2 whites chicks (a pair) and an incubator full of eggs right now. We even bought an egg turner just for his eggs.

His favorite hen, Mrs. Roo. Isn't long for this world. :/

I just lost my rooster too, he was my favorite by far and would even jump in my lap unlike any of the others. I buried him and even painted him a nice grave stone. I know how you feel, my family looks at me like I'm nuts crying over a chicken... At least you have some beautiful chicks and eggs with his genes to pass on his memory. I have one of my rooster's sons left. Mine didn't live to his fullest either, they are supposed to live 8 to 10 years, but he died at 4.. He got pale and slow a few months before he died, I still don't know why he died.. I miss him so much..

Thanks everyone. He was fine the day before. I guess he held in the sickness to well. He was even out and about walking around in the yard 2 days before.
