So my parents had a rabbit that bit the dust and I am wondering if there is any reason that I can't feed the leftover rabbit pellets to my hens.

Anybody see this as a problem?

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

My chickens "graze" under my rabbit cages all the time.

I would substitute chicken feed for rabbit food, but I don't think it will hurt them..

I was thinking that I could just dump what was left of the rabbit food into the feed bag and mixing it in. Sounds like that wouldn't be a problem.

My goats and chickens free range together and the chickens always run the the goats' alfalfa pellets and eat them. They are pretty much the same thing as rabbit pellets. My girls have never seemed to suffer from doing this.

I had a look into what is in them recently and it is a combination of most of the grains in chikcen feed mixed in with alflafa/lucerne and filler hay. All fine for chickens. Too high in fibre and low in protein to use as a staple but certainly OK to feed.
