Rabbit, Rabbit

My family would say "I hate rabbits" or "I hate smoked fish" when campfire smoke blew in our faces. Then the smoke would supposedly move on to the next person.
Do I hate rabbits? No.
Do I know where this tradition came from? No.
Does it work? No
Is it funny to see some cousins get in a yelling match with a campfire about who hates rabbits more? Yes
That’s awesome, it sounds exactly like something my family would do 🤣

I asked grandma where it came from, she said she wasn't sure who started it. I think it was my Aunt. She probably made something up to make light of the smoke annoying us whiney little kids haha
Ok talked to my aunt, and she said she learned it from my dad, her older brother. He said it's "I hate white rabbits" and it was a local boyscout superstition from the era. It is meant to change the winds. Kind of like a rain dance or singing let it snow to convince snow to fall. Something younger kids made up haha
