So, I'm "smart" and got a 12 week old flemish giant rabbit the other day. He's been harassing the chicks to no end. He is scheduled for neutering on Monday. Right now I do have him in the run with the poultry, but sectioned off so he can't get near them right now. My ultimate plan is to have him live out there in the run. He has his own house to go into at night. I'm really hoping that neutering him will get him to stop chasing the birds. Eek.

I would love to know if that works. I have been thinking of doing this too. I don't have a rabbit yet but hope to get one soon. I was going to have a separate rabbit hutch and run but have a small door to connect his/her run to the chickens run that I can open and close. That way the rabbit and chickens can have their own run but sometimes they can share. Good luck.

I've heard from other people that it works. I'm thinking that after the neuter and when the chicks are bigger then things will be better between them. The rabbit is at the age where he just reached sexual maturity.... So his aggression I'm hoping is mainly just due to hormones.

When I was growing up we had a duck who lost one of his legs, he lived his life with the rabbits since the other birds kept trying to kill him. They cuddled and got along really well from day one.
