rabbits in winter?

If you just have one bunny or a few, you can buy heated bowls or heated water bottles, they are well worth it!! We invested in the bottles last year and it was my easiest winter ever!! Our local Farm & Home had them for $20 each. Remember if you get anything plastic they will most likely chew it, so heated water bowls must be the metal ones made for rabbits or the bottles which hang on the outside of the hutch.

You got lots of good advice.

I own a rabbitry and I keep my rabbits all in a very large barn. Now I am here in Florida so I only get freezing nights a few nights a year. Don't put too much hay in for bedding cause they will pee on it then it will mold. And the hardware cloth is better for proptection and for the feet. I also have many of the rabbits with foot rest pads.

If you need any rabbit help send me a PM.

well thanks guys for all your advice it sounds like he'll be just fine out in the cold, provided he has some insulation, and some warm water, i guess i'll just be watching weather reports and if i have any doubts i will be bringing him in.thanks for all the advice

I also keep mine outside all year in a hutch and i just wanted to add that you can use bisque queen (sp?)(a clear plasticy material) to wrap and staple around the legs of the hutch to keep out any drafts from going up through the bottom. To cover the front door, if it is wire, i use plexy glass that is cut to the size of the door and can slide in between the wood frame and the wire, so it can be removed in warm weather. Both of these work great in the cold and i also use lots of straw for them to burrow in and give them warm water (b/c they like it) though it does freeze faster.
Good Luck!
