In re: "Our homes being predator proof." Apples vs oranges. The lure(for predators) of chicken coups is the Chickens. They don't usually break into our homes because we don't taste that good,. Plus we are bigger than them and have weapons of mass destruction - ie, frying pans, guns, knives, hysterical women(me) etc. We also don't get contained in a chicken wire pen and become sitting ducks.
Chickens may be our first line of defense, when the chickens run out, the predators may ring the doorbell to draw us out, then launch an attack. You can never be too careful. I'm just 'funning' you.
