Raccoon attack!!!

Last night one of our wyandotte pullets was attacked by a raccoon. She had blood all over her head and face. Her eyes seem swollen shut and half of her face is marked with scratches. I'm not sure how to clean the dried blood from her eyes without hurting her. It is caked on her face. How can I make her comfortable and clean her wounds the right way?

I'm too new, so I'm sorry I can't help with what to do. Clean water wipe down and Neosporin?
I can't believe she survived! Poor sweetie! I have a duck that was attacked by coons. Her two buddies didn't make it. I thought she had a broken leg and her beak was all bloody. She has survived just fine, with nothing but a small scar on her beak.

Oh, also, I put her in a dog crate inside the house with a towel over the top and put an electric heater in front of her (not TOO hot). Just keep her in a warm, dark place.

Okay get a rag or washcloth, soak in some warm, and lightly wipe the blood off. After that, I'd get some q-tips with HP to clean the scratches. To keep infection off, rub on neosorin. Last, check her for more wounds. To keep flies off I'd bring her inside and offer her goodies.

Just remember Neosporin without the numbing, pain reliever in it.

I forgot to mention, most of the damage is to her face and one eye is pretty much damaged the other one I think she can possibly see through. The problem is that she has a bad aim at pecking at things and has no appetite. The only thing she will eat by herself is water. I can’t get her to have any food so I don’t know what to do. It is really hard to get her beak open to get some in but it seems that’s the only thing I can do. Also, she has a wound on her chest I only noticed yesterday. At first it just looked like a patch with a bit of skin torn off but now that I have examined it closer, it is a deep hole in her. It looks bad and I have no idea what to do. Does anyone have any advice?

For the deep wound, plug it with Neosporin exept a small hole in it for drainage. I'd get her on an antibiotic to keep infection away after that. Since she isn't eating on her own, you should try feeding her hard-boiled egg yolk, preferably batam eggs if you can. If her eyes are all swollen still, try putting some cooling ointment or anti-swelling creme on it after it's good and clean. Hope your baby pulls through!
