Raccoon / Possum Problem???

Hello Fellas,

Its perhaps inhumane to do this but with the high steak @ hand with all the exotics that I have and are breeding...some being limited like my RJF, I have to relocate whatever attacked and killed my hen on Feb. 14, 2008. Regardless whatever it is...its got to go. Too risky to leave running around my backyard at night not knowing what it might kill next. I will get rid of it humanely...

What are some of the suggestions you can give me in catching a possum or a racoon? Its most likely a raccoon now that I have talked it over with my dad (he saw it that night), because he said it has a furry tail and around 25 pounds...so yeah.

Thanks for your help. My family, my dog, my chickens...all my pets will be thankful for your help in catching this night walker...

I use a have a heart trap set against well walked paths against walls. Use marshmellows for bait, as tuna or fish attract cats.

silkiechicken is right, hav-a-heart traps work well and you can relocate the animal. I use cup cakes with icing or blueberry muffins. Unless you are in the city, it is legal to shoot an animal if it is killing your animals. This is humane also if done correctly and does not make your problem animal someone elses problem animal.
