Raccoon, Right? Graphic Pictures

Tonight when I was locking everyone up I realized Helen our Bourbon Red was missing. There were feathers everywhere in the woods and we found her dragged up against the fence that borders the property - about twenty feet from the main piles of feathers. Head was missing and insides exposed. I'm assuming this was a raccoon? Rest in Peace, Helen.

That looks like what they do to our chickens, but I'm not sure that a raccoon can take down a turkey honestly.

Yes, I have heard them as close as about a mile away, but not recently.

Should say also she was trying to lay an egg up there, apparently under a log. So maybe she couldn't put up much of a fight?

Maybe. I'm just not sure a raccoon would go after something that size.

I'd honestly lean towards coyotes

Large Racoons have no problem killing a turkey, I have caught Racoon close to 35 lbs.
