Raccoons got in... MY house!

Oh man... what a nasty surprise to find inside your house. I hope you are able to thwart any future attempts by the masked bandits.

Good luck.

At my sons college orientation this fall one of the biggy things that they expressed to the new students... if they live on the ground/garden level of a dorm, they needed to keep their windows shut as raccoons get into the dorm rooms and ransack them every year.

A few weeks later my husband was spending some time on campus with my son. They were walking back toward his dorm after dark and saw a whole family of raccoons going from window to window trying them out!!

Persistent little buggers.

I've seen raccoon pawprints on some of the sliding glass doors in the dining room... it always reminds me of the Mervyn's store commercials.... with the raccoons chanting "open, open, open"!

Thank goodness my german shepherd, golden retriever, and poodle all sleep in the bedroom! If something comes in the window at least I'll have plenty of dog-alarms going off

"here little masked bandit... c'mon and get your treat outta the nice trap"

Yikes! Will you be adding hardware cloth to your own windows, now???

Our big dog is such a total hair bomb, but she does keep the varmints away. I think I'll go give her a treat. I'm glad your kitties are ok and that you didn't have more damage than you did. I think they can really go on a spree once they get inside, especially in a kitchen!

Poo on your window sill. Ewww! And how rude!

LOL, actually DH and I talked about how we can put hardward cloth up on the clerestory window! I like to keep the window open all summer so the hot air escapes from "their" room. These are two older city cats who are never allowed outside. They have their own bedroom that is just off of our living room; I keep the door closed so they don't have access to the living room/kitchen, which is good because the raccoon couldn't get into the rest of the house either.

I have 2 very large dogs in the house with me, but the "cat room" is on the other side of our house and the dogs didn't hear anything.

Set the live trap last night, and the only thing I caught was one of my very timid barn cats. Once I freed her (she was only in there for a few minutes) she never returned to the bait, but neither did the coons. So, the battle wages on...
