Raccoons got us last night

I moved them to an improved enclosure on the ground last week. Oversight on my part...raccoons can appararently pull boards off. I had run out of screws so I nailed the boards around the bottom. They pulled a board off! Even worse, they only took females. Now I have to cull 3 males to fix the ratio. Im heart broken

I'm so sorry for your loss

It's quite strange, predators seem to go for females first. A while back, rats took my female gouldian finches, but non of the males. Probably just a coincidence, but the females seem more vulnerable.

I’m very sorry for your loss, but I’m also grateful you shared that with us so someone else can learn from it (me, in particular). I had no idea that was a thing either.
