I just finished my chicken run in our new house which is located in a woody area. We were getting some critter invading the run at night by digging under the wire (which is 4feet out from each side) all the way into the run and pushing up past the wire there (it only extends 4 feet in). We nailed the wire to the ground with 12inch metal stakes/nails and placed a layer of heavy bricks on top of that around the edge and then put more stakes against the bricks so they couldn't be easily pushed or pulled. We also put an extra top layer of thick nylon netting over the wire roof.
All that work and this is what I woke up to when I went to put the girls out. They couldn't get out and were just sleeping there. (The girls were fine I make sure to lock them away at night). My husband helped me get them out (open the gate door and wack them till they fall and run to it). But now what do I do.
