I have a Lavender Orphington Hen that faithfully sat her eggs, hatched a few and was happily taking care of the babies for 4 days when the neighbors dog broke into the coop and got all her babies. I rushed and found someone selling babies that were 3 days old picked them up and gave them to her. She was thrilled!! Her first babies were one red and 3 black. The new ones are all white Silkies. She was very happy with both. However I bought also bought chicks online and some of them were brown. My hen hates the brown ones! On 3 different occasions she has snuck into the hatchery chicks pen and managed to kill 2 and badly injure 1. She doesnt mind any of the other hatchery babies but the brown ones she cannot stand! In 20 years of keeping chickens I've never seen such a thing, has anyone else ever have anything like this happen?

You need to keep your chicks in a secure location. If a hen can sneak in and kill them, so can something else.

Chickens don't have emotions like that.

She just doesn't like the brown ones. Happens all the time. Set up a brooder for them
I never imagined she could see the difference in a black chick and a brown chick. Its crossed my mind that there is something wrong with the partridge cochin chicks, they have had a lot of pasting.
