Racoon attack; wing torn and toes gone.

Thank you for all the support and advice everyone. I do feel bad since I left town a bit back and left her. Someone else watched her and made sure she had food and water but she was just in another restroom in a storage box. It was safe for her but probably lonely. I'm tempted to put her outside and I think her toes and wings are healed enough but I'm scared I'm wrong and she may attract flies. When I have time, I'll try to take her out for a bit here and there....maybe for short periods of time...little by little. I haven't been spraying her for over 3 weeks now....just making sure she has food and water and trying to make sure her bedding is clean, which is straw atm.

Again thank you everyone.

She is a testament to your love and dedication. It’s tough to leave town in these types of situations, especially when we don’t have like minded chicken sitters. You’re doing well with her given the circumstances, though.

Another option is bringing a friendly chicken inside with her for even just 15 mins a day while you supervise and feed them a treat together or something. It really does make a difference for them to have a friend around. A lot of times you will see remarkable improvement in all areas of the healing journey when they are near flock members again.

I haven't read the entire story yet, but wanted to say bravo for all the effort you've put into this amazing recovery.
I don't think many folks would have done it, certainly not me.
Thank you for being truly inspirational :love:love:love :love
In my humble opinion, you deserve some kind of humanitarian award (and I'm a grumpy old cuss).

Hey hey. It's been busy so I haven't had a chance to update until now. Ok, so these are pics from 8/15....a few days ago. She is doing pretty well I think considering. She is using both feet to walk around and scratching...I can't really even tell anything was wrong w her feet but she is more active so kind of hard to take a look. Her wing is still drying out... but has some black spots that I'm not sure if its ok or if i need to do something about it. I did ordered the antibotic medicine and it did come but I never gave it to her since buy then I didn't think she needed it. I'll try to check on her and take more pics of her soon. And....I got an egg on 8/14!! Since then she has laid at least another 1 also.
Isn't she just sweet!❤️

Looking good! I think the black on the wing is just the bone and tissue continuing to dry up. That's going to take some time still, but I think it all looks fine. Hopefully others will give their thoughts!

Foot looks good too. It's healing right along nicely and it sounds like she's moving about and wanting to be busy.

Getting her outside for periods of time when you can is a great idea. I'm sure she'd enjoy that and hopefully she can visit her friends too.

You have done a wonderful job taking care of her! Thank you for the update, I look forward to the next one.

Ok.....so I just checked up on her and have good/bad (?l?!) update for everyone who has been following and rooting for us along. Like I said she is in a storage tote atm in a bathroom..... not the best situation but I'm really scared to put her outside. I collected an egg from her and then noticed she has blood on her wing feathers on the side she was injured?? It looked like a lot of blood but I don't think it was much after inspecting her. So I investigate further and looks like she tried to escape....unsuccessfully? But when I went to look at her wing more closely, it looked like it was missing some pieces??? So I figured out her bone came out....the dried portion of bone that wasn't salvageable that some people said may fall out....I didn't believe it. She is still moving around and scratching like normal and probably wants outside. At least the room I currently have her in has good lighting from outside. Anyways I found the bone that fell out (by itself??? Or from the jump or both????). Here are some pictures I took.

I didn't get a chance to spray her but I may bust out the spray and use it again. I really like the Spurr spray I got..... I'm glad the lady at the feed store recommended it. There was actually some other treatment (from the Amazon forest) she recommended more so but I thought the application may be harder so I didn't go with that.

Looks like the bone did come out.

I'd start the spray for a few days to help that heal up, hopefully that pocket will close up with no issues.

She's hurrying up the process on you!
