I have had a racoon living in my attic for the past 8 months along with her baby that is also her size now. I have tried every humane way to get rid of her but she wont budge.
Hence I have had to cover the run and coops with another bigger run. But how do you keep a racoon away from chickens without harming the racoon. I have 4 arlo cameras and motion sensor lights on my for girls. But after reading about a loss on BYC I want to make sure my girls are protected.

You're not worried about 8 months' worth of raccoon crap in your attic or the damage they possibly have done??? I would get her out of there ASAP, Call Animal Control or a Wildlife Removal Specialist if you can't get it done.

Ofcourse I've tried all of that. The next step is to poison. Which was recommended by the wild life specialist that came recommended by animal control. I'm more worried about keeping my Hens safe from the raccoon. Hence my question

I have stopped coons in my brother attic and my daughters attic and coons go past my coop almost every night. Coop is easy. Hardware cloth all around and a foot out in the ground apron.
The house you Block off access points with hardwear choth. They will pull off vinyl siding and run the soffit and get in the roof vents. You will have to put HC behind their access points. Next stop their access to the roof by trimmer trees and tall shrubs. If need be add electric fencing if you can't harden off all points. Coons will not want to give up a good den easily. Poison in the attic would be the first step for me as I worked at the other. Coons use your attic as a litter box as well. They will use it over going outside.. Coon waste carry deadly things to humans. If you read about how much money it takes to Clean out the insulation and replace it you will move fast. Why clean it out? Read about lung worm and the other heath issues you can get.

Thankyou so much for this derailed advice.

So...just to clarify.
Is this the attic of your house, or the attic of your barn or chicken coop?
As stated above by others, racoons living, peeing and pooping in your house over your heads is very risky to your familys health.
Any racoon that gets in my house is a dead racoon real quick!

can you not put an arlo up in the attic so you know when it leaves and then put up hc to keep it out. They have to go eat sometime and normally they go out at dusk. You could also just put up one of those live traps. I don't know how big your attic is so a live trap may not work, depending on how much room ;you have up there.
