Racoon: Now I am MAD!!!!Need help!!!

I'm pretty sure the raccoon was killed. I sensed some sarcasm in that update.

ha ha ha i had to re-read that post too. get a big loud mouthed dog, we happen to have of all things, a coondog. he cannot follow a trail, but he sure knows how to kill a coon. his pen backs right up to our chicken pens, and the pens are completely covererd with shade from the trees, so you would think it easy pickings for coons, oppossum, or whatever, but only lost chickens to owls and a ???? during the day when they were free ranging. maybe a total of 6 birds in 5 yrs. the chicks are in a water tub in the barn where the goats and ponies are. guess just too busy around here for varmits. i also play a radio, mostly for my comfort, but it has other uses too.

I wasn't trying to be sarcastic, only being sensitive to those who have a kinder gentler view of creatures who wreak havoc on poor chickens.

We do have a dog, a rather fearless Jack Russell -- she would take on a bear but she also doesn't like to spend too much time outside unless we are there with her.

BTW, I also like to think of deer, raccoons and possums as "sleeping" along side the road. While I do think it's unfortunate that deer meet their end on the side of the road, I have come to appreciate every "sleeping" coon that I see.

I know extacly how you feel I have lost over 30 chics this summer to them and now they have gotten to smart for the live traps so I had a couple of experienced trappers come down and they told me i was so over ran with them that the only way it would stop was for me to move the chickens out of the field and closer to the house so that is what we are working on now we are haing to build a complete new coop and everything the other coop and run was down in the feild and right by the creek so when they walked the creek bank that is when they found out that I had a bunch of coons and we could trap forever and most likely not get them all lol but now they sont even mess witht he traps and just go straight for the chickens they managed to get 3 last night and somehow they manged to get the door open on the coop to get to them dont ask me how they did but i know for a fact i shut it lastnight and it was open this moring and feathers from 3 chicks everywhere

Only way he will not return, if you kill him...

Raccoon should not be relocate, Most state it is illegal to relocate them, here you must kill them, or release them on your land.

Sorry didn't read everything said what I was going to say.

Please keep in mind that unless you fix your coop, more raccoons will take this one's place.

Also, did you check the body's sex? Could be babies left behind.
