racoons

I haven't had a coon attack yet, but I trap and dispatch them anyway. We have them thick where I am at. Any coon in my yard is assumed that it is "doing or about to do damage". When I done with them they are put in the back field for the buzzards. This year it appears we have a nesting pair in our field. Buzzards got to eat too! Might as well be a coon sandwich!

Coons carry nasty parasites in their poop that you don't want any of your family members touching...including your birds. Coons always mean trouble. An army of roosters could not win against a coon.

I have heard that coons do not like the sound of a human voice. My father puts a radio in his garden when the sweetcorn is about to ripen. This actually works for him. I was wondering if this would also work if you placed a radio in or around your chicken coop. Dad says that a good stern speaking voice deters them better so he puts on the local religious channel. Maybe the coons will get the message of " Thall shall not kill." and leave your birds alone.

I second the this time of year, with the "coons" having kits now they r expanding their food range and they can really smell good, had them wipe half coop out, and shot a couple in the act before dark, so listen to your girls before dark also.

I hit them hard enough during trapping season there are not many coon around me right now it will take them3-6 months to get thick here again. The ducks have a better chance of hatching a few and so do the turtles.

We used to put a radio on to deter coons from the corn in the garden. It seemed to work for a while, and then it must have provided entertainment for the coons, as they went for the corn anyway.

Just had a coon kill all ten of my pullets. First time they ever got in. Didn't even eat most of them, just slaughtered them. Tonight it's payback time.
