I've heard this works but any suggestions on type? Like just the little ole transistors? My chickens are in a safe coop but I would prefer to keep the coons or possums from even coming close :(

That could disturb the chickens and deprive your hens of some sleep. Maybe could you put that outside of the coop and a distance from the coop?

We have the same issue and use solar motion lights. Those in addition to our two dogs keeps everything away.

Thank you Debbie for response. I also have solar motion lights, and twinkle lights and red eye lights and shinie strings all around mine. One of my adult kids said " it looks like dang Disneyland out there" lol Oh and the fake owls and dogs during the day peeing on the perimeter ;) I had chickens out there for 15 years with no issues but now, well I'm 73 and overprotective of these little lives. Anyway, thank you for listening to my story.. lol I may put a little radio out there somewhere as well :)

thank you Glicks :) I will just keep switching things up moving things around and locking up tightly. :) When I had my chickens b4 I was the only one around with chickens and I don't think the city coons knew what they were. Now, right here smack in the city there's at least 5 other chicken yards right close so don't know if that will change these dynamics.

That would be a good idea. People with owl statues and items like that usually move them around as if they are actually alive.

It would be nice if they had a motion detecting thing that makes an owl figurine flap it's wings like it is going after an animal.

lol YES! good idea!! I do know there is a motion detector one that sprays water, and one that barks but that one is said that it is tooooo loud and disturbed neighbors. I do have chilli pepper spread all around and alternate with cinnamon and also a peppermint spray. I kind of crack myself up as I came in sneezing like crazy after tonight's spread of flavors. Again, thank you for helping.

My dogs do a phenomenal job of alerting me to predators and my coop is secure but we have bears. They'll destroy a coop if you don't have dogs that alert you
