Rain gutter hydroponics for drinking water

If you grew plants in your rain gutter with gravel like an aquaponics system but without fish, could you use that water to water your chickens or other animals? Also, could you use it even if there were worms in it to break down any matter that got in the gutters? Thanks!

i would not worry about the worms at all...they eat worms after all.

i might worry about the additives for the plants. you will need lots of nitrates and iron etc in the water. probably not great for the birds. i wouldn't worry about them drinking it if they also have plenty of fresh water.
