so my flock of 12 love to play in the rain in their run, first time I seen it I was worried they would get sick and raced to BYC to see that it was ok.
So with the heat so bad, I tried setting up a misting sprinkler..... they won’t come near the run when the water is on. They race back in coup and hide. I told my husband- crazy they know the difference between natural rain storm and the misting. So silly, as if they are afraid to get wet! Let a thunderstorm roll through and they are out and about pecking in the rain! So I am back to just manually watering down part of run so they have cool wet ground to cool off.

Yes chickens like mud, and it's funny how they know the difference. Maybe the sprinkler makes a lot of noise

Sunday and next week we have a good chance for rain ( hasn’t rained in weeks and has been 98 degree with very high heat index. We have prediction of rain with temp 89 next week!! Whoohooo! Less work in the garden and chickens!
