rain vs my babes

Ok we had the worst wind/rain storm here
in Bowmanville on Saturday.
Seriously limbs blew off our 135 year old Maple trees
that would crush a car.

Anyways during this rain storm/wind storm
my Hen refused to go into her house...I tried everything to coax her in but chasing her around was upsetting her so I let her be....
then she called the 6 chicks out...they all sat in the grass in the rain with winds I was sure were going to blow them to the next farm....

I have 5 laying chicks and 1 white meat chick (which I've said before is never going for meat)
My meat chick being fairly chubby already sat on the other 5 trying to keep them dry while he and my grown Hen layed in the grass getting soaked and wind blown.

I wouldn't leave the door from watching them - my husband thought I was insane....

I thought I was going to pass out from fright

truly it was amazing but weird

Anyone know why family chose to stay outside rather then be in nice and dry and safe?

How the winds managed to destroy full grown trees and not even move my birds is another unanswered mystery

The outcome was fine and everyone is 10-4 but the whole incident I could have done without

That is very weird. I don't know why she wouldn't go in, but I'm glad she and the babies came through it OK.

I have the same problem with my two chickens. My girls right now are sharing a run with my two ducks till the chicken coop and run are finally done and the rest of the chicks are old enough to join them, but everytime it rains my two ducks will never go inside they love to play in the mud, the problem is that my chickens love thier duck room-mates and go outside with them and no matter what i do i can not convince them they are not ducks and they dont need to play in the rain but both KFC and Peaches look at me like I am the crazy one, so all I can do right now is watch over them and hope my hubby gets off his butt and helps me finish the chicken coop !! But than I will have to get a few more friends for the ducks ( Afflac and Frodo).
will it never end ??? LOL
